Drug-Free Ramadan 2025: A Safe Space for Those Struggling with Addiction

Drug-Free Ramadan 2025: A Safe Space for Those Struggling with Addiction

Ahmed* was struggling with a drug addiction for years, hiding it from his family every Ramadan. He feared judgment and felt lost. He didn’t know where to turn. Through Spinney Hill’s confidential support, he found a way forward—one step at a time. This Ramadan, he is on a journey to recovery, supported by a community that cares.

Finding Strength & Support This Ramadan

Ramadan is a time of deep spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and reflection. For many, it’s an opportunity to grow closer to the Almighty, strengthen family ties, and seek inner peace. But for those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, Ramadan can feel like an isolating and overwhelming time.

Fasting during the holy month is already a challenge, but for individuals battling addiction, it can be even more difficult. Some may try to conceal their struggles from loved ones, fearing shame or judgment. Others may feel trapped in a cycle they cannot break, believing there’s no way out.

That’s why Spinney Hill has launched Drug-Free Ramadan 2025—a campaign dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by substance abuse. Whether you’re personally struggling with addiction or dealing with the impact of a loved one’s drug use, know that help is available.

The Challenges of Addiction During Ramadan

For those living with addiction, the pressures of Ramadan can feel overwhelming:

  • Fasting can lead to withdrawal symptoms, making the struggle with addiction even harder.
  • Family and financial stress can trigger anxiety and make it harder to cope.
  • Shame and stigma may cause individuals to suffer in silence rather than seek help.
  • Feelings of isolation can make people turn to substances as a way to cope.

This cycle of struggle doesn’t have to continue. You are not alone.

A Supportive Community for a Drug-Free Ramadan

At Spinney Hill, we believe that no one should have to face addiction alone—especially during Ramadan. Through Drug-Free Ramadan 2025, we offer:

I just want to take time out to say, what an amazing team you have working at Spinney Hill. You help us broken brothers to be fixed again, I just want to say Jazakallah to the Spinney Hill Recovery Team for being understanding and not judging me for being an addict and supporting me to overcome my addiction. I am now married and have a job none of this would have been imaginable a few short months ago before I met you.

Now, as a recovering addict, you are still supporting me as I know you are always there at the end of the telephone if I need a chat.

You have also given me an opportunity to work as a Peer mentor to help others, I hope I can give something back to you and the community through this.

Always in your debt

Just wanted to thank you brothers, who stood by me and helped me with my recovery journey.

Being an addict for 25 years, all hope in myself was lost until Spinney Hill reached out to help me and through your network other organisations also supported my recovery with food vouchers so I had a hot meal. Housing support so I was not sleeping on the streets, and the spiritual support that gave me the strength to over come the addiction where no therapy in the past had worked.

The rehab benefited me so much, today I have my family, I speak to my parents and through the mercy of the almighty have a relation with my daughter who I had no contact with for 16 years.

All praises to the almighty and definitely recommend your services to those who are still struggling or need support to become substance free.

I was given help from the Spinney Hill project to help me with my drug addiction. They were very professional in giving me advice and what I could achieve if I followed their programme. They worked with my family and encouraged them to support me, visited my house and encouraged my extended family to believe that I could do this.

Spinney Hill supported me and then referred me to a rehabilitation programme where I stayed for 3 months. It was the best decision of my life and for the first time in 20 years I am drug free.

I would recommend anyone thinking about getting help – don’t delay! Ring the brothers; they don’t judge, they are kind and caring and will go that extra mile to help you.

Get the help!
